“Roy Aarons was one of those largely unsung heroes who really did as much as anyone I can think of to advance understanding and equality.”

    New York Theatre Workshop

  • I am delighted to be involved with TOP SECRET: The Battle for the Pentagon Papers, written by my late husband Roy Aarons and my good friend Geoff Cowan. I am inviting you to attend one of the performances at the New York Theatre Workshop, 79 East 4th Street, NYC. The play is a gripping docudrama about the decision by The Washington Post to publish the Pentagon Papers after the courts had blocked publication by The New York Times. I am more personally involved with one special performance:

    • “A Salute to Roy Aarons”, Sunday matinee, MARCH 7th, at 2pm.
This is a special program celebrating Roy, acclaimed journalist, author, activist, and playwright, co-hosted by Josh Boneh, The New York City chapter of NLGJA and Millie Meyers. Geoff Cowan will open the event and the performance will be followed with a discussion about Roy led by a panel of guests who knew him and his work best: Geoffrey Cowan, moderator, Playwright, Top Secret: The Battle for the Pentagon Papers, Director of Center on Communication Leadership & Policy; Charles Kaiser, Author, Full Court Press, Founder and Former President, New York Chapter of the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association; Earl Caldwell, former writer for the New York Times, currently professor of journalism at Hampton University; Rebecca Miller, Actor, Prayers for Bobby; and lastly Monica Alba, Junior Fellow, USC Annenberg Center on Communication Leadership & Policy.
Following the events you are invited to a no-host-bar reception at CELLAR 58, 58 Second Avenue, a wine bar a few steps away from the theatre.
TOP SECRET will have a 5-week run with previews beginning February 24th. I truly hope you will be able to attend either the “Salute to Roy” or the Sneak Preview Benefit for the USC Annenberg Center. In any case I hope you are able to attend anyone of a number of performances each with wonderful panel discussions following.
